Now in its fourth year, POETS READING POETS is a series designed to bring members of the UVA and Charlottesville community together to experience poetry as it was always meant to be—“a little through the lips and throat,” in the words of Robert Frost—by reading aloud some of the best poetry by the best poets. Arrive late or leave early, read with brio or simply attend to those who do—all are welcome; all will be transformed.
Invite your friends, enemies, frenemies, partners, spouses, children, grand-children, arch-nemeses, acquaintances, students, roommates! Copies of the poems will be provided and all readings are held on the second floor of the UVA Bookstore (400 Emmet St., South), over several Mondays throughout the fall and spring, from 5:30-6:30. For the fall, we will be reading work from the following poets:
September 30th - Langston Hughes
October 28th - George Herbert
November 25th - Edna St. Vincent Millay
